Mr. Fung Ka Chun, David

David Fung entered the Junior Music Programme of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1993, studying with Mr Samuel Lee and Ms Amelia Chan. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2010, David studied with Professor Nigel Clayton at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London and received a Master of Music Degree in 2012. His master degree was supported by RCM Scholarships, including a Croucher Foundation Hong Kong Award and the Jenny Marsh Chapman Award. He got distinction at his final recital.

David has studied piano accompaniment with orchestral piano specialist and BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition official accompanist Elizabeth Burley. He has collaborated with various musicians, including British clarinettist Rachael Chesney, American soprano Erin McHugh and French cellist Magali Mouterde.

From 2016 onwards, David has partnered with the China Philharmonic Orchestra (Hong Kong) where he played solo performances of well-known piano pieces and film music “Somewhere in Time” with the orchestra. David also plays chamber music, popular music and jazz music.
